Description
14 and 15 Courtenay Park Road are a semi-detached pair of houses, with No. 15 currently used as offices. They were built in the mid-19th century and feature painted stucco exteriors with a continuous slate roof, including moulded stacks at the party walls and returns. The architectural style is described as Picturesque Tudor.
The houses are two stories high with attics and have a symmetrical four-window arrangement, with gabled outer bays creating a 1:2:1 fenestration pattern. The outer bays project slightly forward and have fretted bargeboards on the gables. A weathered buttress fronts the party wall, and most windows have raised surrounds. The gable attics feature single-light windows, while No. 15 has a late 19th-century square casement. The first floor has cross-windows, and to the right on the ground floor of No. 14, there are similar three-light casements set in rectangular bays with pendant cast-iron friezes beneath hipped copper roofs. The entrances are located in the returns and are covered by glazed porches that match the bays.
The interior has not been inspected. This pair of houses is part of the Courtenay Park development, which was laid out in 1854.
