Description

Ernesettle House is a detached house built in the early 19th century. It features a stucco exterior with rusticated quoins and a steep dry slate roof that has a modillion eaves cornice. The house has tall stuccoed end stacks that are positioned forward of the ridge. It has a double-depth or double-pile plan with an entrance hall located behind the right-hand room. The building is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window garden front, but there is no front doorway. The windows have moulded architraves with sill brackets; those on the ground floor include stepped keyblocks, and the central first-floor window is adorned with a festooned apron. The windows are later 19th-century 8-pane horned sashes. On the right-hand return, there are similar window openings at the extreme left and right, with another window centrally located above a gabled porch that features a pilastered doorway rising into a gable parapet. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
