Description
The Post Office and adjoining bank is a house that has been divided into two commercial spaces, located on The Strand in Starcross. It was built in the early 19th century and features a rendered exterior with a slate roof that is set behind a parapet, with gabled ends and end stacks. The building has a double depth rectangular plan with a central entrance leading into a passage.
It stands two storeys tall and has a symmetrical three-bay front with a parapet. The central entrance is a recessed panelled front door, which has panelled reveals and is framed by a pilastered doorcase with an entablature. There are two-storey canted bays on both the left and right sides, separated by pilasters. The ground floor windows have been reglazed with plate glass, while the first-floor windows in the bays are two-pane sashes. Above the front door, there is a two-pane sash window flanked by pilasters, and there are three attic dormers. This building is part of a notable group on The Strand.
