Description
Vine House and The Post Office are two houses, one of which includes a shop, built around 1760. The structure is made of brick, flint, and carstone, topped with plaintile roofs. It has a double pile plan and stands two storeys high with a dormer attic. The facade is roughly symmetrical, featuring two doors that are separated by a segmental sash window with glazing bars. The doors are panelled and set beneath open pedimented cases, although the right-hand door has been renewed. To the right, there is a blind window bay on each floor, followed by another sash window on each floor, both with glazing bars and under segmental arches. On the left side of the elevation, there is an early 20th-century double fronted shop fascia. A flat brick string course separates the storeys. Above the shop, there is a tripartite sash window, a thin blind bay, two more sashes, another blind bay, and a final sash, all featuring glazing bars and segmental heads. The building has seven blind square recesses that create a false third floor. The gabled roof includes five flat-headed dormers with 20th-century casements. There is a ridge stack located left of centre and an internal stack on the right gable.
