Description
Coldeast Cottages is a pair of cottages, likely converted from a single farmhouse, dating from the 17th century or earlier, with later additions at the rear. They have solid roughcast walls made of cob or stone and a thatched roof made of wheat reed, hipped at each end. There is a large rendered brick chimneystack on the ridge, positioned off-centre to the right, and a smaller yellow brick stack in the left-hand gable wall.
No. 1, located on the right, appears to have a one-room ground plan, while No. 2, on the left, has two rooms. The cottages are two storeys high and have a three-window front featuring 19th-century wooden casements. On the ground floor, No. 1 has a single window with a doorway to the right, while No. 2 has two windows with a doorway between them. Both doorways are fitted with 20th-century wooden porches. The interiors have not been inspected.
