Description
Old Benedicts Bridge is a bridge that crosses Liverton Brook, located on the loop road on the north-west side of the old A38, where it has been replaced by New Benedicts Bridge, which is not listed. The bridge is probably from the 18th century and is constructed of stone rubble, featuring voussoirs and copings made of dressed granite. It has a single segmental arch with a raised keystone on each side. The keystones are notable for their unusual semi-circular pendants on the underside, which are similar to those found at Dartmeet Bridge in Widecombe, built in 1792. The bridge also has long, low parapets with copings that have rounded tops.
