Description
Bennet House is a late 18th century or early 19th century house located on the east side of Brownston Street in Modbury. The building features rendered rubble returns and a slate roof with clay tile cresting. It is a three-storey house with a through passage on the left leading to a long back wing, and it has a curved corner at the lower end that returns to a narrow passageway at the back of Imdina and Home Croft.
The house has two sets of windows, all of which are 12-pane sashes, with the top floor windows being square. The ground and first floor windows are set within a plat-band, while the second floor has a similar band applied only to the jambs. On the curved end of the house, there is one 4-pane horned sash window.
The central entrance features a 6-panel door that is accessed by two stone steps and is framed by a pilaster surround with a cornice supported by consoles. The opening on the far left has a lintel with a keystone that is formed in the rendering. The house also has a plinth, a small stack on the right gable, and a larger stack on the left, which may be shared with No 52.
