Description
Walkespool is a small detached cottage, possibly dating from the 17th century, that has been significantly modified over time. It features rendered rubble with some exposed sections at the gable, and it has a shingle roof that was formerly thatched. The cottage is built into the rock, which is partly visible at the foundation level, and it is set down the hillside with its back wall facing the lane.
The building has one and a half storeys. On the lane side, there are two small, deep-set, two-light casements. The upper half-hipped gable has a small square stack and features a single glazing bar light with an extended side-light, along with a small two-light casement. The lower half-nipped gable has a large external stack that is rounded at the eaves level and square above. To the left of this stack, there is a two-light casement with a transom above a horizontal three-light casement. There is also a simple one-storey addition and an outshut at the back of the main building, which are not of special interest.
