Description

This is an 18th-century detached cottage located in the centre of Kingston Village. The walls are rendered and the roof is thatched. The original design was symmetrical, but the front has a doorway positioned slightly to the right and a garage extension has been added to the right-hand side, with a room above it. There are two prominent gable stacks, with the stack on the left being external and having a half-cylindrical form rising close to the ridge. The front features two small windows with six panes per sash and projecting horns, and a six-panel part-glazed door with a flat hood supported by simple posts, leading up three steps. The garage has large plank doors, and above them are two two-light casements. The right-hand return has glazing running the full width at eaves level, with a central door. The rear of the cottage features a full-width outshut with a swept-down design, and two two-light casements have been added to a projecting bay. The outshut has a small opening at its end, possibly a former door, and a plank door to the back of the garage. The interior has not been inspected.
