Description

Fernleigh and Fernleigh Cottage are an early to mid-19th century villa, built after 1834, in a late Georgian style. The building is double-fronted with three windows and has a hipped roof covered with Welsh slate. The roof features moulded, rendered stacks and projecting bracketed eaves. The front facade is stuccoed, with a string course marking the first-floor level. The windows are recessed sash windows; those on the first floor have shutters, while the ground floor features splayed bay windows with pilasters and cornices. A projecting portico with Ionic columns provides an entrance, leading to a doorway with a rectangular fanlight, side-lights, and a panelled door. A conservatory with decorative cast-iron work stands on the south side of the building.
