Description

Glebe House, located at West Glebe and East Glebe, is a large detached house with a wing, now divided into three separate residences. It dates from the mid-19th century. The main block is constructed of brick and features a hipped slate roof, while the right wing is made of thin-bedded rubble with an asbestos cement slate roof.

The front of the house is two storeys high and has five windows. On the ground floor, there is a 20th-century conservatory to the left, which has six arched openings and a flat roof that connects to a heavy 'Tuscan' portico. This area also includes three 15-pane sash windows. The first floor features five 9-pane sash windows, while the right return has a 9 over 15-pane sash window, all of which are replacement sashes. The left return is plain and includes a glazed lean-to conservatory.

The building has an eaves cornice and a large eaves stack on the left, which is made of rubble raised in brick, as well as a ridge stack located between the second and third bays. A four-paned solar collector is present on the front. The return wing is also two storeys high with four 12-pane sash windows, and the third bay has a small low-pitched gable above it, along with a pair of French doors below. Some internal shutters are found on both the ground and first floors. There is a ridge stack at the junction with the main block and another at the rear, which features a central projecting gabled projection.

Inside the main block, there are many fielded panelled doors, a mid-19th century staircase, and a large 16-pane stair light. The rear wing has been partly inspected and its interior has been significantly modified to create flat accommodation.
