Description
Turtlefields is a detached cottage dating from the 18th century, featuring a rendered exterior and a thatched roof. The building has an asymmetrical front that follows a former cross-passage L-plan, with a bay added to the left side. It stands two storeys high and has three windows; the outer bays contain 2-light casements with horizontal bars, while the middle bay has a 3-light window. These windows are from the 19th century, although the ground floor centre window is deeper than the others, suggesting it may be a later addition.
Centered between the second and third bays is a plank door that sits on three steps and is sheltered by a thatched hood. The cottage features a gable stack on the left and a ridge stack to the left of the centre bay, while the stack at the right end has been cut back. The former back wing has also been cut back. Inside, the cottage has a rebuilt fireplace with a large stone lintel in the centre room, along with chamfered joists. There is a second bressumer fire to the right and a new staircase. A timber-framed wall is present on the first floor at the right end. The roof structure was not observed.
