Description
This building is a barn and shippon located about 30 metres east of Foales Leigh, dating from the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed of slate rubble and features a slate roof with gabled ends. The structure has a rectangular plan, with shippons and cart sheds on the ground floor and a loft above.
The building is two storeys high, with stone stairs at the centre leading to a loft doorway that has a segmental red brick arch and a slated canopy. There is another loft doorway to the left, also featuring a red brick arch. The ground floor includes shippon doorways with red brick arches and a square window, as well as two small ventilation slits located below the eaves. The cart shed on the right has an unchamfered timber lintel. Access to the loft over the cart shed is provided by a wide loft doorway in the right-hand (south) gable end, with an additional loft doorway near the centre at the rear (east). The interior has not been inspected. The building is situated on the east side of the farmyard at Foales Leigh.
