Description
West Moore is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century or possibly earlier, with an extension from the 18th century. It features a coursed slate roof that has been bitumenised, with gabled ends. The right-hand end of the building is at a lower level and is plastered. The eaves have a deep coved cornice. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a four-window range, with wooden lintels and slate sills. The two right-hand windows on the ground floor have moulded wooden lintels. The windows are three-light casements with glazing bars and later sashes.
There is a two-storey hipped roof porch to the right of the centre, which has a chamfered round-arched doorway made of dressed slate. Above the doorway is a horizontally sliding sash window with glazing bars and a stone hoodmould. A chimney stack with granite quoins is located to the left of the porch on the front wall, and there are chimney stacks at both gable ends. The left-hand bay at the higher end is a later addition, marked by a straight joint in the masonry, and features a slate-hung gable end. The lower end has some cob walling. At the rear, there is an 18th-century wing that is at right angles to the main building. Inside, some of the ceiling beams are chamfered.
