Farmhouse. Probably early C18, but probably C17 core. Slatestone rubble, plastered cob above, granite quoins and asbestos slate roofs with brick chimneys over gable ends. Double depth plan with wing to rear. Main range built end on to slope. 2 storeys. 5-window front. Central door with hipped roof porch flanked by 3-light wooden sashes in widened openings, inserted midway between original ground floor window positions. First floor is rendered cob with 4-pane wooden sashes in original openings. External stack to right lower gable end. Rear is lower and irregular. Rear doorway, now window and door is nearer to left lower end. 2-light wooden casement with small panes to left and similar window to right but with gauze for ventilation in left light. Bead moulded timber lintels over openings with cob above. First floor left : wide 3-light casement with small panes; 2-light, 16-pane and 2-light 12-pane horizontal sliding sashes to right. Wing has small lean-to in angle of house and wing. Pent roof over doorway at end of outshut. Halse, the Cornish historian notes that stones from the old house at Fenton Goleen near by were placed in the portals, gates and building of the new Tregothnan q.v. Tregothnan House which was first built circa 1650.
