Description
Nos 42 and 44 on Fore Street are likely from the 17th century and have been altered. They form a single composition that is three stories high with two windows. The windows have flush frames and are sash style, featuring glazing bars, although the first floor of No 44 is missing its glazing bars. The upper floors are covered in hung tiles and are painted. There is a wooden box cornice and a slate roof. The mid-19th century shops are located beneath, and there is a passageway on the left that reveals early 17th century moulded vertical wood panelling. A wing extends at the rear. Nos 42 to 84 (even), No 92, and The Shambles are part of a group.
