Description

These are two buildings, numbers 45 and 47 Fore Street, likely dating from the 18th century and subsequently altered. They form a single composition with a wide front featuring three first-floor windows. The windows originally had near-flush frames, and now retain only central glazing bars. The buildings are constructed of narrow-coursed stone, including voussoirs to the flat arches. They have a wooden eaves cornice and a slate roof, with red brick chimneys. The shop front incorporates an early 19th-century entablature, partially obscured by a more modern shop fascia on the left side, with a window on the right that has been altered for display purposes. The buildings are part of a group that includes the Anchor Hotel (numbers 7 to 51, odd) and the Evangelical Church.
