Description

The buildings at 49 and 51 Fore Street are probably of the 18th century, and have been altered since their original construction. Number 49 is a two-storey, two-window building, while number 51 is two storeys and one window wide. The first floor of both buildings is clad in hung tiles, painted. The windows are flush-framed sash windows, now featuring only central glazing bars. A wooden eaves cornice runs along the roofline. Number 49 has a mid-19th century wooden shop front. A central passageway leads through to Melbourne Place (number 49A Fore Street). A modern bank occupies the ground floor of the left-hand side of number 49. These buildings form a group with numbers 7 to 51 (the odd numbers) and the Evangelical Church.
