Description
Myrtle House is a building located at 1276 Fore Street, with its west portion dating from the 17th century and the east portion from the 18th century. It is situated at the end of a court off Fore Street. The west side is constructed of stone and is believed to have been a school. It features a three-bay arcade on the ground floor, is two stories high, has a coved eaves cornice, and includes first-floor two-light mullion transom windows. The first-floor room has a barrel ceiling. The east side, from the 18th century, is three stories tall and has three windows at right angles. It is built of local stone and has sash windows with red brick cambered heads and only center glazing bars. Myrtle House is part of a group that includes the Anchor Hotel and Nos 7 to 51 (odd) and the Evangelical Church.
