Description
No. 4 Brownston Street is a house at the end of a row, dating from the mid to late 19th century, with a possibly older interior. The exterior features smooth rendering and a slate roof. It stands three storeys high and has three windows, all of which are 4-pane sashes set on stone cills supported by consoles, although the central units are blind. The ground floor windows have vermiculated keystones. The entrance consists of a central 6-pane fielded door with a 4-pane overlight, flanked by pilasters and heavy consoles topped with a cornice. The building has a plinth, plain pilaster strips, and a wood dentil eaves cornice. There is a rendered cropped stack on the left side. While modest in appearance, it serves as an important visual stop at this end of the street.
