Description
No. 53 High Street is a house that has been converted into a restaurant. It likely dates from the 16th or 17th century but was extensively remodeled in the early 19th century. The front is roughcast and is probably timber-framed, with a slated roof. The building has three storeys and features a two-window range. The late 20th-century restaurant front has upper-storey windows with moulded architraves and barred sashes, arranged in a 6 over 2 pane configuration. There is also a moulded eaves-board. The interior has only been inspected in the restaurant area, which appears to have been completely altered. A previous description from 1973 noted that during recent renovations, a timber post and plank-panel screen from the 16th century was uncovered.
