Description

Montpelier House is an early to mid-19th century semi-detached villa, situated at the eastern end of Montpelier Terrace and raised above road level. The house is stuccoed with channelled detailing to the ground floor, and has a slate roof with a central box dormer featuring margin glazing. Brick stacks are located at the ends of the roof. The villa is three storeys high with an attic. It has two windows facing the road. A central round-arched entrance features a six-panel door and fanlight, flanked by pilasters with triglyph details. Canted bays with three-light hornless sashes and margin glazing extend through the ground and first floors. The second floor has twelve-pane hornless sashes. A continuous cast-iron balcony runs along the first floor, following the line of the bays and extending around the plain left-hand return. The rear of the building includes sashes and a central round-headed stair light. The interior has not been inspected. Montpelier House is part of a group with numbers 1-20 (inclusive) Montpelier Terrace.
