Description
No. 25 Portland Street is a house built in the early to mid 19th century. It has a rendered solid front and an asbestos slated roof, with a red brick chimney on the left gable. The building features a double-fronted, double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a symmetrical facade. The ground storey is rusticated and has a raised band at the sill level of the second storey, which also has a matching sill band in the third storey.
The central doorway is moulded and round-arched, featuring a four-panelled late 20th century door with a plain fanlight above. All three storeys have windows with moulded architraves; those on the ground storey rest on prominent shaped sills. The middle window in the second storey contains sashes with leaded, multi-coloured glass, likely from the late 19th century. The other windows have two-light, two-paned wood casements of a similar date, with a two-paned transom-light above. The interior has not been inspected.
