Description

A pair of early 19th-century terraced houses, now combined into a single dwelling, situated above street level on Fore Street, Ilfracombe. The houses are constructed of stucco with slated roofs and feature box dormers. The building is three storeys high and has a three-window facade, with one window being blind. Round-arched entrances are positioned at angles; the entrance to No. 27 has a timber doorcase in the Doric style, incorporating open pediments, fluted columns, and triglyph imposts, although it has since been converted into a window. No. 28 has a panelled door with a radial fanlight. At first-floor level, No. 27 has a blind window above the entrance and a canted bay oriel to the right. No. 28 features a square bay oriel. The windows are recessed sashes of varying dates, with the ground floor of No. 27 having plate glass windows. The listed buildings along Fore Street are considered to form a group.
