Description
The building is a shippon located approximately 5 metres to the east of Rapscott Cottage. It dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century, with a later addition from the 19th century. The structure features roughly-squared stone rubble on the ground floor, with cob above on the left side. It has a corrugated-iron roof that is gable-ended on the left (north) and half-hipped on the right (south).
The shippon has a loft above and faces west, with a one-storey lean-to addition at the right-hand end. The exterior includes a loft opening on the left, two ground-floor openings, the left-hand one featuring a frame, and a central 19th-century boarded door with a wooden lintel. The lean-to on the right-hand end has a 20th-century boarded door.
Inside, the shippon has a four-bay roof supported by trusses consisting of principal rafters and collars. This building is part of a larger farmstead group that includes Rapscott Cottage, Little Rapscott, and Great Rapscott Farmhouse.
