Description
This building is a barn and attached shippon with a loft above, dating from around 1850. It is constructed of rubblestone and has an asbestos slate roof with gable ends. The structure is almost L-shaped, with the shippon and loft joining the barn at a right angle at the lower front end.
The barn features a large flat-arched cart entrance made of rough stone voussoirs and a plank door. The shippon has external stone steps leading to a loft door, which is also a plank door with a timber lintel. On the south side of the shippon, there are three segmental arched openings; the central opening has a plank door, the left side is infilled to create a small square opening, and the right side is infilled, leaving space for a slatted window. Additionally, there is a plank door with a flat brick arch at the lower front end of the barn. The lower gable end includes ventilation slits, and the barn has 19th-century roof trusses with intact side-pegged collars.
