Description
The Western Barn, built around 1800, is a barn constructed from sandstone rubble and topped with a stone slate roof. The east wall features a shippon that projects forward on the left side under a catslide roof, along with an added lean-to shippon that extends further forward on the right. Between these two shippons is a canopy that shelters the wide entrance, which has a segmental arch and a cruck blade that has been reused as the inner lintel. The left-hand shippon includes a door in its front wall with a plain stone surround, while the right-hand shippon has two doors in its left-hand return wall. The rear wall contains a threshing doorway that is now blocked and has a window. Inside the barn, there are trusses with tie beams and collars.
