Description
The building is a bank barn located to the west of Hole Farmhouse, dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble and features a slate roof with coped verges, divided into two sections at the front, while the engine house at the rear has a segmental slate roof. The barn is designed as a long rectangular hay barn set into the side of a hill, with a large central threshing floor that has since been removed. There are large doorways on opposite sides of the barn. The ground floor contains cattle shelters with openings on the downhill side, and to the right of the front is a two-storeyed stable of lower height, along with a single-storeyed engine house at the rear of the left end.
The exterior has two storeys, with the front featuring two large full-height, two-stage buttresses that flank a central door opening on the first floor, which has plank doors. There are additional secondary buttresses on each side. The ground floor includes four segmental-headed openings for the cattle shelters, and the stable on the right has a door opening. At the rear, there is a polygonal engine house. Inside, the barn has an early 19th-century strutted King-post roof, and the engine house at the rear has had its machinery removed.
