LANDEWEDNACK CHURCH COVE SW 71 SW 9/66 Barn to north west of Church Town Farmhouse GV II

Bank barn and horse engine house. Late C18. Lower part of barn on north possibly earlier. Repaired in mid-C19. Random stone base with unplastered upper walls of cob. C19 brick repairs to south east gable of barn. Slate roof (re-roofed 1862, scratched in plaster behind slates). Round apsidal horse engine house on north east side of barn. Small window opening on the south east with an entrance on the north. The central post and machinery have now been removed but the roof timbers remain. Small internal window through to threshing floor of the barn. 2 storey rectangular barn, (single storey on the south west side where ground rises). Series of random openings with later glazing. Ground floor entrance in mid-north east elevation and flight of external stairs to first floor at junction with horse engine house on the north. Opposing this entrance is a double-doored entrance on the south west side. Entrance to first floor of barn at north-west end. Ground floor of barn used for storage. First floor has threshing floor on the south-east end and storage area at the north-west end with a boarded partition between ox yokes used as joist for first floor. (Included for group value with farmhouse).
