Description

This church hall, dating from the 1880s, was originally built as a Sunday school. It is constructed of rubble stone with granite quoins, lintels, and dressings. Some of the walls are rendered and the building has a slate roof. A tall rubble stone chimney, set in an angle and featuring granite quoins, was originally used to house the school bell. The building has an L-shaped plan. A porch on the south side of the east wing is supported by two granite monolith piers with square bases and capitals that corbel into octagonal shafts. The roof trusses are exposed inside. Of note is the ornate wrought ironwork on the door hinges. The east side of the south wing has three square windows. The south wing's gable end features three windows with 4-centred arches, with diamond-paned windows above. The east wing's gable end has two windows with 4-centred arches, and a tall rectangular window above. The north elevation includes a three-light window in a rectangular frame on the east side, and three windows with 4-centred arches on the west side. The west elevation has a sloping roof with three three-light windows in rectangular surrounds, situated just below the eaves. The interior has not been inspected.
