Description
The Cedars and Willows is a pair of houses located on the north side of East Street in Chulmleigh, dating from the early 19th century. They are constructed from roughcast rendered stone rubble and feature a slate roof with gable ends, along with a large axial brick stack. The houses have a mirror plan design, built gable end to the street, with each house being single room wide and two rooms deep, sharing a single stack. There are outer entrance passages that contain rear staircases, and each side has lean-to kitchen outshuts.
The buildings stand two storeys high with an attic storey and have a four-window range. The original windows are all intact, consisting of semi-circular headed sash windows, with a bulls eye window in the attic storey. The right house has a four-panelled door, while the left house features a six-panelled door. Brief interior inspections indicate that the 19th-century joinery, including staircases and panelled doors, is largely intact.
