Description
The barn and stables, located approximately 40 metres south of Upcott Farm, were built in 1833 and later extended at the right gable end in the early 20th century, with an additional extension on the left end. The structure is made of rubble and features gable-ended slate roofs. It has two large cart openings with cambered arches made of roughly dressed stone. On either side of these openings are large double wooden doors, and there is a slate plaque inscribed with "This Barn was built in 1833: Mr George Avery Proprietor. Wm and Sam Hammond Builders." The right extension was built in 1915, marked by the inscription "V.I.S. 1915," and has rubbed brick cambered arches for its openings. The lower extension on the left has a pantiled roof and cob walling over slate rubblestone, with a loft door situated above the stable door.
