Description

This building is a barn and stables with a loft over, located approximately 50 metres east of Marsh Farmhouse. It likely dates from the late 17th century and is constructed of unrendered stone rubble and cob, topped with a corrugated iron roof that has gable ends. The structure is rectangular in plan, featuring stables with a loft over on the left end.

External stone steps lead up to a loft plank door, which is sheltered by a corrugated iron canopy supported on timber posts. To the right on the ground floor, there is a stable plank door, and large double barn doors are located on the right side, above which is a row of pigeon holes extending to both the left and right. There are opposing plank doors at the rear of the building.

The left gable end showcases a 17th-century ovolo moulded timber mullion window with two lights, and there is a loft plank door situated above it. Inside, the structure features principals with short curved trusses over the stable end, along with threaded purlins and mortices on the soffits of the blades for collars. There are five additional pegged trusses with straight principals of lighter scantling over the barn end, complete with side-pegged collars.
