Description

Prospect Lodge is a house built around 1820, featuring a whitewashed rendered exterior and a pyramidal slate roof with deep eaves and a square cupola at its base. The building has a deep plain cornice and stands two storeys high with a three-bay front range. There are two right-angled extensions at the rear, creating a narrow three-sided courtyard plan. The façade is adorned with quoin pilasters and three sash windows: the central window has six panes over six panes, while the outer windows consist of eight panes over eight panes above two sash windows with six panes over nine panes. These flank a porch supported by a pair of Ionic columns, with Ionic pilasters on either side of a half-glazed panelled door.

On the east elevation, there are two blocked openings and a sash window with six panes over six panes to the right, above another sash window with six panes over nine panes to the left, and a sash window with six panes over eight panes to the right of the French windows. The left gable end features blocked sashes on each floor to the right and sash windows with six panes over six panes to the left. Inside, there is an elliptical hall arch leading to a dog-leg staircase with stick balusters and a wreathed handrail, along with a dentilled cornice on the landing ceiling. The two principal front rooms have carved cornices and foliated centrepieces, with the room to the right being particularly elaborate, featuring a marble chimneypiece.
