Description

This is a house, originally a farmhouse, dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. It is constructed of colourwashed roughcast rendered rubble and cob, with a thatched roof that has a deep overhang; the left end is hipped, while the main range has a gable. The roof has a brick stack set back from the cross-passage, with a later brick stack at the right gable end. A slated lean-to roof covers the outshut at the left end.

The front has a three-window arrangement of 2-light casements with two panes per light, and a 4-light window to the left with two panes per light, featuring an iron grille to the left of the plank front door, which has a slated canopy above. A 3-light window with twelve panes per light is located to the right. The street frontage has a 3-light wooden casement to the left of a slated lean-to porch that forms the angle of the L-shape of the building; the hipped end has a 3-light wooden casement with a small square opening to the left, over a sash window with two panes per sash and a 2-light casement with three panes per light to the right. Much of the internal joinery remains, including a hall with two chamfered beams bearing run-out stops. There is no evidence of smoke-blackening within the roof structure.
