Description

Dawsmere House is a house built around 1820, with some minor alterations from the 20th century. It features a red brick and painted render exterior, topped with a shallow hipped slate roof that has deeply overhanging eaves and two brick chimney stacks. The house is two storeys high and has an L-shaped plan.

The main west front has three windows and a central doorway that is painted and rendered, flanked by Doric pilasters and topped with a deeply moulded entablature. The doorway contains a part glazed four-panel door with an overlight and moulded side panels. On either side of the doorway are single 12-pane glazing bar sash windows with cut-brick lintels. Above the doorway are three additional 12-pane glazing bar sash windows.

On the right side of the house, there are two large 12-pane glazing bar sash windows on the ground floor and two similar windows above. To the right, there is a smaller 12-pane sash window on the ground floor. The rear facade has a doorway on the left with a part glazed door that includes margin lights and an overdoor. Above this doorway is a small 12-pane sash window, and to the right is a larger 12-pane sash window that serves the staircase. The rear wing has three glazing bar sashes, with those on the ground floor obscured by a late 20th-century lean-to conservatory.
