Description
This is a mid-19th century bank barn with an attached granary, located approximately 10 meters south of Home Farmhouse in Fremington. The barn is constructed of stone rubble and features a scantle slate roof with gable ends. The granary is made of light scantling timber framing with brick infill. The barn is built into a bank, allowing for first floor access at the rear, and has a virtually rectangular shape with a shippon below. The left end of the barn slightly protrudes forward. The granary is designed as a lean-to at the right gable end.
The barn includes a winnowing door set over a cambered relieving arch, leading to a plank door that is flanked by window openings. There is a buttress at the right end of the barn. The granary on the right features a plank door with an opening to the right and is elevated on moulded granite staddle stones. At the rear of the barn, there are double plank doors.
