Description
79 Chapel Street is a house built for the Heathcote estate. It features exposed red brick on a low plinth of squared stone blocks, with cast iron window sills and a slated roof that is hipped at the left end. The house has a double depth plan and stands two storeys tall. The front, facing east, has three windows and a doorway that replaces the middle ground storey window. There is a two-window return front to Chapel Street. The windows have cambered arches over eight-paned sashes, except for the middle upper-storey window, which has six-paned sashes. The round-arched doorway has a rusticated surround made of painted stone or cement, a four-panelled door with the two lower panels flush, and a fanlight with two radial bars. The interior has not been inspected. The door surround at No. 79 is similar to those found in other Heathcoat-built houses from the late 1850s on St Paul Street.
