Description

The pair of terraced houses at 3 and 4 Lowman Green, Tiverton, date from the early or mid 19th century, and may incorporate an earlier building. They have painted brick frontages and pantiled roofs, with two chimney pots just visible behind the ridge to the left.

The houses are two storeys high with three widely spaced windows. A notable feature is the pair of mirrored wooden shop fronts, which include flanking pilasters supporting an entablature with a tall frieze. Pilaster strips rise to a patterned cornice on the frieze. The shop doors are separated by pilasters, and the display windows (with two panes at No.3) have transom lights; each house has one transom light, containing three panes. House doors and all windows are segmentally headed, but all have been altered in the 20th century, and the upper windows have plastic glazing bars.

The interior has not been inspected. The houses occupy a prominent position near Lowman Bridge.
