Description
No. 16 Fore Street is a shop with accommodation above, likely built in the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of Flemish bond red brick with blue brick headers, and the roof is hidden behind a parapet. There is a brick stack at the right end.
The exterior features three storeys and a four-bay front. The ground floor has a modern shop front, with windows angled towards a central doorway. To the right, there is a carriageway. The windows have segmental arched heads, with rubbed brick arches and keyblocks, and they have been reglazed since 1972, when they were noted as sash windows with glazing bars. A moulded brick cornice and parapet were added in the 20th century.
The interior has not been inspected but may still have interesting features.
