Description
No. 2 Fore Street is a pair of houses with shops, likely built in the late 18th century, and possibly rebuilt after the fire of 1794. The building is plastered with a slate roof, and the stacks are not visible from the street. It is situated on an important corner site with a curved frontage.
The exterior features three storeys with a basement and a three-window front. There is a moulded eaves board. The shop on the left has a plate glass window and a two-leaf door with an overlight to the right. The shop on the right has a 20th-century five-pane shop window, with one light canted towards the shop door on the right. The first-floor windows are eight over twelve-pane sashes, while the second-floor windows are sixteen-pane sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
