Description
24 and 26 Fore Street is a house that has been converted into shops with accommodation above. It is probably from the early 18th century and has undergone many alterations over the years. The building is rendered and features a slate roof with end stacks that have rendered shafts, as well as cast-iron rainwater goods.
The exterior consists of three storeys and attics, with a four-bay front. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front with a passageway leading to the rear on the right side. There is a platband at the second-floor level. The first and second floors each have four windows that are glazed with two-pane timber sashes, which have moulded architraves. The attic dormers are fitted with three-over-three pane sashes. The rear elevation, which is partly hidden by a 20th-century single-storey addition, has an M-profile roof and retains boxed sash windows along with raking attic dormers.
The interior has not been inspected, but it may still contain features of interest.
