Description
Peppercorn Cottage and Pinewood Cottage are two adjoining cottages that were originally four separate cottages, dating from the mid-19th century. They are constructed of plastered cob on rubble footings, with cob or rubble stacks topped with brick, and feature a wheat reed thatched roof. Each cottage has two rooms and a central axial stack, with hipped ends; originally, each stack served a single room cottage. The buildings are two storeys high and present an overall eight-window front, featuring 20th-century wooden and steel casements. The entrance to Pinewood Cottage is located at the left end, while the door to Peppercorn Cottage is positioned right of centre, with both cottages having 20th-century glass-sided porches. Originally, each cottage had a central door and a two-window front. The interior displays plain carpentry details. The cottages are included for their group value.
