Description
Winstode House is an early 19th-century house constructed with stucco on rubble walls, featuring rubble stacks with exposed brick chimney shafts and a slate roof. The building has a two-room front block with stacks located in the side walls facing northeast. It has a double-depth plan with a central cross passage and stairs on the northwest side, along with parallel axial roofs.
The house is two storeys high and has a three-window front set on a plain plinth. The flanking windows are sixteen-pane sashes, while the central window above the front door is a twelve-pane sash, all without horns. The front door is a six-panel design with an overlight that includes glazing bars, panelled reveals, and a plain wooden door case featuring pilasters and an entablature. The original iron gutters are notable for their lion mask joints. The roof is hipped on each side, and the interior retains much of its original joinery and fittings.
