Description
Fairby is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 16th or early 17th century. It has render over rubble and cob walls, with dry slate roofs. The outbuilding features a hipped roof. There is a rubble lateral stack at the front towards the left, which is set on a gabled projection that includes a bread oven, and an offset rubble stack at the rear towards the right. The building has a 3-room plan, with a presumed hall in the center and a screens passage to the left of the hall.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a five-window range facing the road. It features mid-20th century two and three-light casements on both the front and rear. There are also 20th-century planked doors located to the left of the front stack and towards the right.
The interior has not been fully inspected, but it includes muntin and plank screens with Tudor-arched doorways on either side of the cross passage and in the left-hand room.
