Description
The War Memorial Seat is a First World War memorial built around 1918, designed as a shelter with a seat inside. It is constructed from stone rubble and features a hipped slate roof at both ends. The shelter has a rectangular shape and is open at the front, with a central entrance flanked by two chamfered timber posts that rest on low stone rubble walls. These posts, along with sections of the wall that extend on the front elevation, support a timber wallplate inscribed with the words, "For God, For King, For Country. To Commemorate the Great War 1914-18." There is also a granite inscription tablet on the front wall to the right, although the lettering is very worn. This distinctive village war memorial is located on a small green in front of a disused schoolhouse.
