Description

Lurley House is a farmhouse, likely dating from the 17th century, although it may incorporate earlier elements. The walls are rendered cob, with a thatched roof and brick stacks. The original layout was a 3-room plan, with a rear extension added in the early 20th century.

The exterior is two storeys high with a four-window front. The windows are mostly early 20th-century two-light casements with glazing bars, and French windows with margin panes feature on the ground floor. A thatched porch is situated towards the left side, and a wide lean-to porch with a slate roof extends from the right.

Inside, the hall and the right-hand room retain 17th-century chamfered crossbeams. There is a probable early 18th-century fireplace in the right-hand room, featuring an oak lintel and an oven situated behind the left-hand jamb. The first floor reveals the feet of 17th and 18th century trusses. Other interior features, including a staircase with turned balusters, are of the early 20th-century remodelling and extension period.
