Description
The lychgate to the Church of St Mary the Virgin was built in 1902 by Edwin Dunning of Stoodleigh Court to commemorate the surrender of the Boers, as noted by an inscription. It is constructed from stone rubble and timber, featuring a tiled roof that is gabled at both ends. The large lychgate has openwork timber sides with ogee braces, which are supported by stone rubble walling. The inscription is located on the south side in bronze letters.
