Description

A pair of cottages dating from the mid-19th century, forming part of a row on the north side of The Square in Uffculme. The cottages have a single-depth plan. Each cottage originally contained one ground floor room with a lean-to at the rear, and two bedrooms; the ground floor doors are adjacent to each other, while one bedroom of number 7 is located above. A vehicle entrance to a yard is positioned to the left, with another bedroom situated above it in number 6. Number 6 has a rear lateral stack (chimney), and number 7 has a side stack. The cottages have two storeys. The front of the cottages has a four-window arrangement; the first floor windows are 12-pane hornless sash windows, and the ground floor has two-panelled doors with rectangular overlights, all contained within a single architrave. Low, planked double gates provide access to the yard. The interior has not been inspected. Numbers 6 and 7 occupy a prominent position and are included on the list for their group value in relation to Gore House.
