Description

Gore House is a house dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is built with stucco and has a gable and hipped slate roof. Originally, it comprised two rooms, one on either side of a central entrance hall, with a wing extending from the left-hand room at the rear. The position of the axial stack, which backs onto the passage, suggests the present facade may have been a reworking of an older structure. There is a right-hand internal end stack, and another to the rear wing.

The house is two storeys high and has a near-symmetrical three-window front. The eaves overhang and have paired shaped brackets. The first floor windows are six-pane hornless sashes, with the central window narrower than the others. Similar windows are present on the ground floor, flanking the central porch which has a moulded canopy and panelled posts and pilasters. The panelled front door has a semi-circular fanlight above it. The right-hand extension includes garage doors and a 19th-century three-light casement window above. A tall, round-headed window with four panes and margin panes lights the stairwell within the wing, and is visible on the left-hand elevation. Casement windows are located at the rear, alongside a round-headed doorway with a fanlight. The interior has not been inspected.
